Credit and Financial Advising
NWBRV offers credit and financial coaching sessions to both groups and individuals to improve your economic situations. HUD-approved credit counselors will help you better manage money, set up checking and savings accounts, set and meet financial goals, track expenses, obtain and use credit wisely, and much more. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual client.
One-on-one counseling
The NWBRV Homeownership Center provides financial and credit counseling services for homeowners and potential home buyers to help meet the demands of the ever-changing housing market. Sessions focus on financial preparedness, overcoming barriers such as credit issues, and getting mortgage ready. One-on-ones are tailored to meet the needs of each individual client.
All clients participating in “Basic Homebuyer Education” classes are required to attend at least one counseling session.
Financial fitness workshops
NWBRV’s Homeownership Center currently works in partnership with Family Resources Community Action to host ten-hour financial preparedness workshops called “More for Your Money”. Participants attend four class sessions where they learn to better manage their money, set up checking and savings accounts, set and meet financial goals, track expenses, obtain and use credit wisely, and much more. They also participate in a one-on-one counseling session with a certified financial coach. Participants may also be invited to join the Financial Opportunity Center, a more intensive counseling model that works with clients over a three-year time span in partnership with Family Resources Community Action.
Post-purchase counseling
The NWBRV Homeownership Center continues to counsel homeowners after you’ve purchased homes, on issues ranging from sale, refinancing, foreclosures, reverse mortgages, and more.
